With the New Year just weeks away, it’s time to start planning where to take your team this year. Sure, you could take them to some of the same places you’ve already been, but there are so many other great places you go! Here are some of the top incentive destinations to take your team in 2017.
Seville, Spain
Seville has a lot to offer. There are so many things to see and do. One of the most impressive places to go is the Plaza de España. While many areas in Spain have a Plaza, the one in this Andalucian city is different. It was built to host the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition, which hosted several countries between May and June, including the US, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Costa Rica among many others. The Plaza is a sight to behold with cascading fountains, gorgeous ceramic tiles, and arcades. There are also many activities to enjoy – visiting regional stands, boating, or visiting one of the three UNESCO World Historic Sites. Seville is also Spain’s only river port and has wonderful seafood. Your employees can even learn how to flamenco!
St. Petersburg, Russia
St. Petersburg is the world’s most northern city and is considered to be the “Paris” of Russia. It is rich in history and culture and full of colorful, intricate architecture. The city is full of art galleries and elaborate churches. You can take your employees to tour the Peter and Paul Fortress, which houses the remains of most of the Romanovs. Take a carriage ride around the Palace Square, shop Nevsky Prospeckt, take a boat tour of the River Neva. And when you’re done, treat your employees to traditional Russian food at Tsar or Davidov.
Reykjavik, Iceland
If you have traditionally traveled to warm island destinations, why not give your employees a completely new, and totally unforgettable, experience? Iceland is located approximately three hours from London and is truly a sight to behold. The must-see on your Iceland adventure is the Northern Lights, but there is so much else you can do. Take a four-wheeler or truck expedition across the glaciers, go ice climbing, check out geysers and fill up on Scandinavian favorites like skyr (yogurt) or pylsur (hot dogs made from lamb). In fact, the most famous pylsur kiosk is located in Reykjavik, and it is customary to order it with all of the toppings – sweet brown mustard, ketchup, raw onions, fried onions and a remoulade sauce. If some warming up is needed, you can always take a trip to the hot springs.
Banff, Canada
If you’re looking for a more outdoorsy type destination, look no further than Banff, Canada. Located in Alberta, deep in the Rocky Mountains, your employees can really experience nature. You have a beautiful skyline and are sure to spot some interesting wildlife. Take your employees hiking, horseback riding or even white water rafting. And if you need a break from nature, you can always take an excursion into town to do a little shopping and enjoy some great restaurants.
San Francisco, CA
If you want to stay within the United States in 2017, take a trip to San Francisco. While famous for the Golden Gate Bridge, there is so much else to see and do in San Francisco. Coit Tower and Land’s End offer breathtaking panoramic views. You can take a tour of Alcatraz, the US’s first military prison or taste some wines in Sonoma Valley. Your employees can check out some of the farmer’s markets, which feature products from many of the area’s surrounding farms and have the opportunity to expand their palates.
